The 56 Museum is Hungary's first and so far only museum of the 1956 Revolution and Freedom Fighters. In Kiskunmajsa the Corvin Square was its main command, founded by Gergely Pongrátz. After returning home in 1990 from forced exile after the regime change, one of his most important goals was to create an exhibition in which documents, relics, and photographs related to the 1956 Revolution and Freedom Fight can be viewed.

The museum building was constructed as a manor school between the two world wars under the ministry of Kuno Klebelsberg. The museum opened in 1999, and a T‑55 tank can be seen in its courtyard. It has two exhibition rooms. In these, contemporary relics can be seen: flags, weapons, maps, photographs, newspapers, visual art works of the freedom fighters, and other personal items.
