Privacy Policy
Last updated: October 2026
This page explains, in plain language, what information sights.uz collects when you use the site and what we do with it. We keep this simple on purpose β if anything here is unclear, let us know.
Signing in
You don't need an account to browse sights.uz. If you choose to sign in, you can do it with Google. Signing in gives us only your name, email address, and the profile photo linked to your Google account β nothing else about your Google account.
Your sign-in sessions
When you sign in, we record the IP address and country you signed in from, as a one-time snapshot at that moment. We don't keep tracking your location afterwards β this is not ongoing monitoring of where a signed-in visitor is.
Favorites
If you're signed in, you can save places to a favorites list tied to your account, so you can find them again later.
Anonymous visit statistics
Every page view is counted toward long-term statistics: the date, country, device type, how the visitor arrived, and which page β as numbers only, never a raw IP address. We keep these aggregate counts indefinitely to understand how the site is used over time.
We also keep a more detailed log of visits for 90 days, which does include the raw IP address, country, device type, and whether the visit looks automated (a bot) rather than a person. This log is used only internally, by sights.uz's own administrators, to understand traffic β it is never shared outside sights.uz, and it is deleted automatically after 90 days.
Keeping the site secure
If we notice suspicious activity β repeated failed sign-in attempts, or unusually fast or frequent requests β we log it, including the IP address where we have one. This is used only to prevent abuse of the site, never for anything else.
No advertising
sights.uz carries no advertising. We don't use ad trackers or third-party advertising cookies, and we never sell your information to anyone.
Photos and maps from other sources
Place photos are loaded directly from Wikimedia Commons' own servers, so viewing them doesn't send any tracking back to sights.uz. Map tiles come from OpenStreetMap and Esri.
Deleting your data
Self-service account deletion isn't built into your profile settings yet. If you'd like your account and the data tied to it deleted, contact us and we'll take care of it for you.
Changes to this page
If what sights.uz does with your data changes, we'll update this page to reflect it.
