Amiuk

Amiuk was an Armenian province and fortress in the kingdom of Vaspurakan.The historian Thomas Artsruni or his anonymous successor characterizes the fortress as untouchable, close to the sky and therefore causing neck pain.

After the fall of Van 1054, Amiuk and Achtamar were the last refuge of Armenian Christians according to Thomas Artsruni. The commander of the fortress was Abdul Mseh (Abdlmseh), son of Theodorus (Tʿornik) from Amiuk province and the genus of Artsruni.
