The water park, formerly Lake of Ghalaba, Lake of Ghalaba (Uzbek: Ғалаба кўли) is an artificial lake in Yunusobod district of Tashkent city. It is fed by the waters of the Bozsuv canal.

Geographical location

Lake Tashkent Aquaparki is located in Yunusobod district of Tashkent, on the left side of Amir Temur Street. To the west is Bodomzor. The water of the Bozsuv Canal, located in the north, drains into the lake. The lake is a long-shaped lake stretching from north-east to south-west.

The history

The water pool in Tashkent Aquapark is usually called a lake, but the lake was created artificially. Construction of the lake and forest park began in 1947 (according to other sources in 1946). It is located in a desert near the entrance of the old Chauli stream from Bozsuv. A water pool extended around Chauli was dug and its shores were decorated with trees.

During the Soviet years, the lake had boating stops, beaches and recreation facilities. The beach was one of the popular attractions of the youth. In 1980 the area was home to the galaba cultural and recreational park, and later its land was given to the Uzbek SSR VDNX as a Park Zone.

Current status

Currently, part of the park in Yunusabad district is closed. Part of the lake is located in the area of Tashkent aquapark, and on its left bank is the Japanese park. Both parks are free to visit. Only the shoreline opposite the aquapark is not fenced.
