The Sivas Archaeological Museum was built in 1914 by Governor Ahmed Muammer Bey as the Mekteb-i Industrial Imalathan. It began serving as a museum in 1983. The museum, the largest archaeological museum in Central Anatolia, displays the fossil remains of various mammals that lived in the region 9 million years ago, including the Calcolithic Age (5500–3000 BC), the Ancient Bronze Age (3000–2000 BC) and the Hittites.

The museum also has a section containing information and documents on the Atatürk-Sivas Congress and the National Struggle.
