Aziz Aliyev Museum – a memorial museum located in the city of Khachmaz, Azerbaijan. It is dedicated to the Azerbaijani state figure Aziz Aliyev.

History

The first Aziz Aliyev Museum was opened on 28 December 2007. However, because the condition of the museum was poor, a decision was made to recreate it.

Construction of the new museum building began in August 2013. Employees of the National Museum of History of Azerbaijan assisted in the organization of the museum. The opening ceremony took place on 25 December 2013. At the ceremony, a delegation of 30 representatives from the Republic of Dagestan and Khachmaz executive head Shamsaddin Khanbabayev participated.

Aziz Aliyev is known for his political and public activities both in Azerbaijan and in the Republic of Dagestan. The reason for establishing the museum in the Khachmaz district is that the district borders the Republic of Dagestan and to ensure the comfort of visitors coming from Dagestan.

Features

The museum building is located in a stone‑faced building. A bust of Aziz Aliyev is placed in front of the museum. With an area of 400 m², the museum consists of 1 hall and 2 rooms. About 150 photographs, official documents and exhibits reflecting Aziz Aliyev’s childhood, youth, student years, World War II years, and his political activity in Dagestan are displayed in the museum.
