Bandırma Museum
Bandırma Museum is an archaeological museum in the Paşabayır neighborhood of Bandırma, in Balıkesir province. Its creation was first pushed forward by a local civic association dedicated to establishing and preserving a museum for the district, before the project was taken over by the Ministry of Culture in 1995; after the exhibition halls were completed, the museum opened to the public on 21 June 2003. Its collection draws heavily on finds from the Daskyleion excavation site, an important ancient settlement in the region, as well as material from the ancient city of Kyzikos and other nearby locations. Exhibits span a long chronological range, from artifacts dating to around 3000 BC through the Archaic, Classical, Hellenistic, and Roman periods, early and late. The museum gives visitors to Bandırma a direct link to the long settlement history of the surrounding Kapıdağ and Marmara coastal area, and is closed to the public on Mondays.
