Bayan Lake is a saline lake located on the territory of Santmargats sum, Zavkhan Province.

The southern shore of the lake is sandy, so excess water is drained there, which makes the lake saline. Although Bayan Lake has a small area, it ranks 6th by volume among Mongolia's saline lakes. Half of the lake is 20 m deep, about one third is around 30 m deep, and eight percent is 40 m deep. The lake freezes in winter, forming an ice cover 1.5 m thick. In the summer, the surface temperature of the lake is 17 – 25 °C, and at a depth of 20‑25 m it is around 8 °C.
