The Csúcs-hegyi Cső Cave is one of the caves located on Csúcs-hegy in the Pilis Mountains, situated in the Danube–Ipoly National Park.

Description

It is in a rock group on the north‑west side of Csúcs-hegy, at the edge of Csobánka, with a natural entrance facing north‑west. Bypassing the rock overhang next to the Csúcs-hegyi Cserepes Cave, the entrance opens along the western edge of the overhang, at the base of the rock wall. At the edge of the settlement, where the tourist trail marked with a red stripe heading toward Kevély-nyereg leaves the asphalt road, one must turn upward downhill and then can reach the rock overhang that hides the cave entrance.

The 3.6‑metre‑long cave consists of a single narrow tube. From the formation‑free entrance the whole cave is clearly visible, therefore no equipment is needed to explore the cave. After crawling into the tube, the passage narrows a few metres further and continues in a fissure too small for a person to pass.

Research history

On 27 March 1997 József Regős surveyed the cave and, based on the survey, on 29 March 1997 Sándor Kraus drew a floor‑plan cave map with two cross‑sections, edited at a scale of 1:50. In May 1997 Sándor Kraus drew a site plan showing the geographic location of the caves of Csúcs-hegy. The plan shows the geographic location of the cave labeled Cső. In Kraus’s 1997 report it is stated that the previously unknown Csúcs-hegyi Cső Cave had its map produced in 1997. The 1997 site plan was included in the report.
