Description

The Shamansur dome, which is a type of construction from the 13th century, is located in the Old Taraz rabat, on the east side of the Karakhan dome.

The dome was erected over the tomb of one of the Mongol armies, the Great Bilge – Ikbalhan Dauytbek. The architect of the dome and the builder are unknown. The top of the tomb consists of two domes, made of burnt brick, with doors decorated with ornaments; the domes are fixed by an arch and stand on the door from the outside. In the middle of the inner chamber a stone pedestal resembling a pyramid is placed, on which the name of the buried person and the time of death (1262) are written in Arabic. The inscription was read by T. Belenitsky in 1939.

In 1982 it underwent restoration and was entered into the list of republican significance historical and cultural monuments.
