Gölbaşı Lakes Nature Park protects a pair of lakes in the Gölbaşı district of Adıyaman province in southeastern Turkey. The area was officially declared a protected nature park in 2008 and covers roughly 2,000 hectares of open water, reed beds, and surrounding farmland. The twin lakes sit close together yet differ slightly in character and water source, one drawing more on springs and the other on seasonal stream inflow, which gives the pair distinct water levels and ecological conditions. The wetlands support large populations of migratory and breeding waterbirds, and the site is internationally recognized as an Important Bird Area. Local communities use the lakes for small-scale fishing, while the shoreline villages and picnic grounds attract day visitors from across the province. The park is valued as one of the more significant freshwater habitats in this part of Anatolia, standing out against the drier plateau landscape that surrounds it and offering a refuge for species that depend on inland wetlands in an otherwise arid region.
