Hasan Sezai Mosque, a mosque built in 1486 in the center of Edirne by Şah Melek together with its tekke.

After being commissioned by Şah Melek Bey, Hasan Sezai Mosque was completed by Ekmekçizade Ahmet Pasha a short time later. The mosque was renovated in 1631 by İsa Dede. It was demolished down to its foundation and rebuilt in 1740 by Sadık Efendi, a descendant of Hasan Sezai Gülşenî. In the 1953 earthquake the mosque was completely destroyed, with only the portion of its minaret up to the balcony remaining standing. After the Edirne Governorship Provincial Special Administration expropriated two buildings on two separate parcels surrounding the tekke, restoration of the mosque together with the tekke began in 2013. After a two‑year restoration, the mosque was reopened for worship on Friday, 11 December 2015, after the Friday prayer. As part of the restoration, Hasan Sezai’s tomb was repaired, the fountain in the area was revived, the ruined prayer hall was rebuilt, and, together with landscaping, ablution facilities and toilet spaces were added to the complex.

The mosque, which is owned by the General Directorate of Foundations, and the dervish lodge it contains were registered as a Group 1 Monument to be protected by the Edirne Board of Culture and Natural Heritage Protection by decision No. 7697 dated 04 July 2003. In its garden, which has two entrances, nearly one hundred tombstones, 11 of them broken, located in the mosque’s cemetery were restored in 2022.
