The Hungarian Orthodox Clerical Art Museum in Miskolc occupies a modest late-Baroque building on Deák Ferenc Square that once served as the town's Greek school, built at the expense of the wealthy local merchant Ferenc Janovics. The museum preserves the liturgical art and cultural memory of Hungary's Orthodox communities of Greek origin under the Moscow Patriarchate, reflecting the Macedo-Vlach merchants and settlers who established a church and school in Miskolc in the 17th and 18th centuries. Its exhibits are dominated by books and written documents rather than icons alone, illustrating how these Balkan arrivals maintained a culture rooted in Byzantine tradition long after settling far from their origins. The museum stands beside the city's Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox church, built by the same community, which is known for an exceptionally tall iconostasis depicting dozens of scenes from the life of Christ.
