İvaz Paşa Mosque
The İvaz Paşa Mosque in Bursa belongs to the pious endowment of Hacı İvaz Paşa, the architect responsible for the city's celebrated Green Mosque and Green Tomb, who served as a vizier under Sultans Mehmed I and Murad II until his death in 1428. Located in Bursa's old market district, the mosque formed part of a wider foundation that also included a madrasa, a caravanserai, and a market, with income from the latter two supporting the upkeep of the religious buildings; a market bearing his name still stands in the area today. The original mosque building was lost to a fire that swept through Bursa's covered bazaar in 1958, and the structure seen today is a reconstruction completed in 1967-1968. Hacı İvaz Paşa himself is buried in his own mausoleum in Bursa's Pınarbaşı cemetery, a separate monument from the mosque that bears his name in the market quarter.
