İzzet Koyunoğlu City Museum, located in Topraklık Neighborhood in Konya, was founded by A. R. İzzet Koyunoğlu, a member of one of Konya's longstanding families. A. İzzet Koyunoğlu began collecting works in an old and typical Konya house from 1913 onward. In addition to archaeological artifacts collected from Konya and its surroundings, books, ethnographic items and natural history objects are among the museum's main collections.

A. R. zzet Koyunoğlu donated the museum he created through his personal efforts, which is among the world’s famous museums and libraries, to the Konya Municipality in 1973. Following this, A. R. İzzet Koyunoğlu’s house was placed under protection, its surroundings were expropriated, and on the 3,433 m² site the modern building of today was constructed. The museum was reorganized and reopened to the public on 2 February 1984 under the name Konya Metropolitan Municipality A. R. İzzet Koyunoğlu Museum and Library.
