Karakoʻy Mosque, also known as the Merzifonlu Kara Mustafo Posho Mosque, was built by Raimondo D’Aronco in 1903 in the Karakoʻy square and was demolished in 1958.
After a single-domed mosque built in the time of Mehmed II fell into ruin, in the 17th century a small mosque called Yogkapani was erected by Merzifonlu Qora Mustafo Posho, under which there were shops. Because of the ruin of this mosque, in 1903 a mosque in the Art Nouveau style was built on the same site by D’Aronco by order of Abdulhamid II. The mosque was demolished in 1958 due to the expansion of the square.
Although it is said that the ruined parts of the marble façade, domed, multi‑angled plan mosque were used in other mosques, no evidence has been found.
