Karkidon Reservoir - a hydro-technical structure on the Quvasoy River in the Fergana Region. The reservoir is built in a natural basin on the border of the Fergana Region Kuva district and the Republic of Kyrgyzstan, between the Nazarota foothills and the valleys of the Quvasoy basin. The first phase was completed at the end of 1961–63, the second phase was completed in 1967. The Karkidon Reservoir has a dam height of 70 m, length 420 m. Total volume 218.4 million m³, useful volume 211.5 million m³; water surface area 9.65 km²; maximum length 5.5 km; average depth 36.7 m. Water is discharged from the Karkidon Reservoir through a discharge structure (length 340 m) and a special canal (length 2.7 km, depth 2.7 m, water conveyance capacity 50 m³/s), flowing into the South Fergana Canal. Water is supplied to the Karkidon Reservoir via a canal 27 km long. The construction of the reservoir improves water supply for the agricultural lands of the Quva, Oxunboboyev, Oltiariq, and Fergana districts of the Fergana Region.

The Karkidon Reservoir was built to improve water supply for the areas irrigated from the South Fergana Canal and from Isfayramsoy. With the construction of the reservoir, water scarcity will be completely eliminated in the 69 thousand ha irrigated from the JFK in the Andijan and Fergana regions. In addition, water scarcity in the 43 thousand ha irrigated from Isfayramsoy in the Fergana Region of the Republic of Uzbekistan and the Osh Region of the Republic of Kyrgyzstan decreased from 192 million m³ to 96 million m³, i.e., water supply increased from 70 % to 85 %. A 13 % water allocation is guaranteed to the Republic of Kyrgyzstan. The Karkidon Reservoir was completed by the “Fergana Water Construction” trust based on the project of the “Uzdavsuvloyiha” institute.
