Kaşgari Murtaza Efendi Mosque is located in the Eyüpsultan district. It belongs to the 18th century. Because the name of the mosque building is relatively “Murteza Efendi Mosque”, and the first sheikh of the tekke that was once located here was Kaşgarlı, it is also called “Kâşgarî Mosque”. It is between İdrisköşkü Street, which goes from Eyüp Sultan to Pierre Loti Café, and Hüsamefendi Street. There are courtyard gates opening onto both roads. The construction of the mosque and tekke was started by Yekçeşm Ahmed Murtezâ Efendi of Turkestan origin in 1744 and was completed in one year. Builder Murteza Efendi died in 1747. His tomb, together with his wife’s, is located in front of the mosque. The mosque and its annexes are made of wood, while its minaret is made of cut stone. Next to the mosque there is a marble, inscription‑less, well with a pulley. The building complex has a fountain on both the İdrisköşkü Street façade and the Hüsam Efendi Street façade. The first sheikh of the tekke located here, buried in its tomb together with his son Ubeydullah, is the Turkestan native Abdullah Nidayi. Abdullah Nidayi Efendi has a work titled “Risale-i Hakkıyye”. The work was examined by Dr. Güller Nuhoğlu and published as a book under the name “Abdullah Nidâî-yi Kâşgâri”. The last sheikh of the tekke is Abdülhakîm Arvâsî, who was also the sheikh of Necip Fazıl Kısakürek. Some sources mention that the tomb of İsa Geylani, located immediately next to the mosque, belongs to the descendants of Abdülkâdir Geylânî. The mosque, which was subjected to restoration in 2014, was opened for worship in 2018. In the tomb of Kaşgari Murteza Efendi Mosque there are also graves of important state officials of the period such as Cemal Paşa (d. H.1297 M.1880) and Ahmet Bican Paşa. Regarding the building complex, Dr. Nuran Çetin wrote a book titled “Gönül Sultanlarının Ağırlandığı Tekke Kaşgari Dergahı”, which was published by the Eyüp Sultan Municipality in 2018.
