The Kiskunhalasi Tájház, a nationally protected historic house, is located in Kiskunhalas at 1 Nyár Street, adjoining the Eskü Square.

History

In the 1750s it was allocated as a redemption plot. In the 19th century it belonged to the local Orbán family, and from 1900 it came into the ownership of the Baki family.

From 1980 the process of designating it as a folk house began. It is one of the historic buildings of Kiskunhalas, which between 1998 and 2003 was under the Kiskunhalas City Protection and City Development Association, then the BKMÖ Thorma János Museum, and from 2007 under the supervision of the Halas Gallery. Since 2013 it has been operated by Halasi Media and Culture Ltd.

The exhibition site presents the lifestyle and agriculture of the 19th–20th century Great Plain, Reformed, Hala farming families.

Programs

Since 2008 the Pásztortűz Association, under the name Táltoscsikó Craft Workshop, has organized children's and craft programs here every August.
