The Kobda sanctuary is a state nature reserve in Kobda district, Aktobe region, created on 6 December 2017 to protect the steppe landscape along the Khobda River, a tributary that feeds into the Ilek in western Kazakhstan. The reserve covers the river's floodplain and the surrounding dry steppe, a habitat widespread across Aktobe region but increasingly pressured by grazing and farming, and it is managed under Kazakhstan's network of sanctuaries of republican significance rather than as a strictly closed reserve. Its purpose is to keep a representative section of the Khobda valley's riverine and steppe ecosystems close to a natural state, supporting the typical wildlife of this part of the western Kazakh steppe. The sanctuary has no built tourist infrastructure; its interest lies mainly in the open river-valley scenery of the Khobda for naturalists and those travelling through this stretch of Aktobe region.
