Kurşunlu Mosque, on Kurşunlu Boulevard in the Kapıcıbaşı quarter, is counted as the oldest building standing in Edremit, with local accounts tracing its origin to the thirteenth century. Its name, meaning "leaded," refers to the lead sheeting once used to cover its roof or dome. The mosque is a modest, single-domed structure built of hewn stone, and its most distinctive feature is the narthex at its entrance, where the arches rest on columns carved in the Corinthian order, a detail that points to the reuse of earlier classical material in the building's construction. Over the centuries the mosque absorbed later Ottoman repairs and additions, so that its present appearance blends an early core with subsequent building phases. It continues to function as an active neighborhood mosque in Edremit, drawing both worshippers and visitors interested in its long architectural history and its reused ancient columns.
