Kurşunlu Mosque
Muğla Kurşunlu Mosque, a 15th‑century Ottoman mosque in Muğla.
Construction
Its construction was started in 1493 by Şucaeddin Bey, one of the Menteşe beys, and was completed in two years. Its architecture bears the characteristics of classical Ottoman architecture. It received this name because its dome is covered with lead plates. There are two fountains in its garden.
When the mosque was first built, the madrasa with 30 classrooms in its garden was removed during later renovations. The work, which Evliya Çelebi also mentioned in his travel to Muğla, is today the central mosque of Muğla.
The mosque, located in the Balıbey neighbourhood of Muğla's Menteşe district, is affiliated with the Menteşe Muftiate and is active.
