Dombay Lake is a small artificial lake in the Eastern Mecsek, on the side of Zengő, in a tiny valley, 2 kilometres southwest of Pécsvárad. It was created in 1960 by Baranya County. In 1966 it was named after the Pécs museum director archaeologist Dombay János. The lake is surrounded by a small tourist centre and weekend houses, mainly visited by residents of Pécsvárad and Hosszúhetény for bathing. North of the lake, in a former watermill building, a children’s camp and a caretaker’s house operate. On the northern side is the Dombay spring with a water flow of 8–10 litres per minute. Its reservoir was built in 1966. Its water is no longer drinkable.
