Gökpınar Lake, located 10 kilometres from the district centre of Gürün in Sivas, is a lake formed over many years as a result of alluvial deposition. The lake's area is 3000 square metres and it is situated between 1500 and 2000 metres elevation. Its depth is 15 metres. The lake was named Gökpınar because its colour is the colour of the sky blue. Gökpınar Lake was declared on 9 March by the Ministry of Environment and Urbanisation General Directorate of Nature Conservation as a "Natural Site Qualified Natural Protection Area".
