Madrasa-mosque — a historic monument located in the oldest part of Baku city, Icheri Sheher, which is one of the cell remains of the now non‑existent Came mosque and functioned for a time as a madrasa-mosque, and is now a shop.

About

In the late Middle Ages this monument, which mainly functioned as a mosque‑madrasa, is one of the cells of the Came mosque that existed in Icheri Sheher and has survived to the present. The cells were built in the 15th century in the Came courtyard for educational purposes. In the mid‑19th century, due to the widening of Asaf Zeynalli Street in Icheri Sheher and road‑construction works, the cells of the Came mosque were demolished, and one of the surviving cells was used as a mosque‑madrasa.

In the portal of the entrance of the mosque‑madrasa, together with a protrusion that creates a connection with other cells, the main principles of architecture are reflected — stone carvings, a wide pattern palette, artistic epigraphy, etc. The quality of the stone construction and decorative work is excellent.
