Miletus Museum
Milet Museum is an archaeology museum located within the ancient city of Miletus area near Balat Village, in the district of Didim, Aydın.
The museum was opened to visitors in 1973 and exhibits artifacts excavated from the ancient cities of Miletus, Didim, and Priene. However, as the museum's static balance deteriorated over time and it became hazardous, the museum was demolished and a new one opened at the same site in 2011.
Generally divided into interior and exterior exhibition areas, the interior of the museum is organized into sections for finds brought from different areas. The interior exhibition area consists of about 600 m² of covered space:
Milet Section: Minos kitchen, Minoan and Mycenaean ceramics, artifacts from the Aphrodite Sacred Area, and Hellenistic and Roman period tomb objects from Kazartepe.
Didim Section: Brankhids, sphinxes, various vessels, and artifacts from the Temple of Apollo.
Priene Section: Small finds from the Hellenistic period and architectural parts of the Temple of Athena.
Central Hall: Vessels from the İlyas Bey Complex, fired clay figures, bronze objects, glass items, jewelry and coins.
Philosophers Park: This special area located directly opposite the museum reflects Miletus's rich intellectual heritage. The park contains explanatory panels providing information about the famous philosophers, architects and artists produced by the ancient city.
The museum garden is used as an open‑air exhibition, displaying large marble works, inscriptions, sarcophagi and architectural pieces.
Museum Visiting Hours (Summer/Winter): Summer 08:30‑19:00, Winter 08:30‑17:00
