Minor (Bahouddin Naqshband majmuasi)
This minaret stands within the Bahouddin Naqshband memorial complex, the pilgrimage site built around the tomb of the 14th-century Sufi master Baha-ud-Din Naqshband Bukhari (1318-1389), founder of the Naqshbandi order, a short distance northeast of Bukhara in what was once called Kasri Arifon. The brick tower, raised in 1885 and crowned by an octagonal lantern with eight arched openings, is one of several structures added to the shrine over the centuries, alongside the saint's marble-railed grave, domed pavilions, two mosques and a khanqah built for Sufi gatherings. Functioning as both an architectural landmark and a call-to-prayer tower for the devotional complex, it reflects the layered building history of a site that remains one of Central Asia's most visited places of pilgrimage and was included in UNESCO's 2023 Silk Roads World Heritage listing.
