Niyalqala
The castle is located in the Ismayilli district. Sources note that the castle was built in the Caucasian Albania period and was one of the main settlements. The ruins of the castle, which was used as a dwelling for a long time, are now disappearing.
Al-Masudi recalls the castle of Shirvanshah called Niyal on Mount Qabh and indicates that it was "a castle without equal in the world." About a farsang from Niyalqala, 7–8 km east, there was another strong castle where the shah's dungeon was located, probably the Sulut castle.
