Osman Reis Mosque
Osman Reis Mosque is located in the İstinye neighbourhood of the Sarıyer district of Istanbul Province. It was built in Hijri 1055 (AD 1645) by El-Hac Osman bin Abdullah, one of the Derya captains, together with the school building beside it that has not survived to the present day. Its founder is also buried in its courtyard. The mosque, which has undergone many repairs over the years, was rebuilt in an eclectic style by Alexandre Vallaury at the order of Ahmed Afif Pasha in Hijri 1321 (AD 1903/1904), as seen on the main gate of the sanctuary. The square‑plan, wooden‑roofed stone mosque has a wide‑eaved entrance with a covered porch and a stone minaret on its right side. The interior decorations of the mosque consist of tiles with penwork designs.
