The mausoleum of Alkozha Ata stands about 2.5 kilometers east of the mausoleum of Khoja Ahmed Yasawi in the city of Turkistan, along what is now Tutkabaev Street. Built of fired brick, the complex combines a burial chamber with a zhamagathana, a gathering room for mourners, and a canopy structure, the chamber itself covered by a dome and lit through window openings set on all four sides. Local tradition holds that Alkozha Ata was the son-in-law of Khoja Ahmed Yasawi, having married Gauhar, the Sufi master's daughter, which places the mausoleum within the devotional landscape that grew up around Turkistan's most revered shrine. The monument is dated to the 12th century and is protected as a historical and cultural monument of republican significance. Restoration carried out between 1997 and 1999 preserved its original architectural features, allowing the building to keep its medieval form.
