Quba tarix-diyarşünaslıq muzeyinin binası
The Quba History and Local Studies Museum occupies a nineteenth-century building on what was once Ardabil Street, a house that belonged to Abbasgulu Bakikhanov, the Azerbaijani historian, writer, and diplomat often called the father of Azerbaijani historiography. Bakikhanov, born into the ruling family of the Baku Khanate in 1794, served as an officer in the Russian imperial army before retiring in 1835 and settling in the Quba area. The museum was founded in 1943 inside his former residence and today holds more than 10,000 exhibits across roughly 740 square metres, drawing several thousand visitors a year. Its collection documents the history and ethnography of the wider Quba region, from archaeological finds to items reflecting the area's multi-ethnic communities. The building itself, as Bakikhanov's preserved home, is as much a monument to him personally as it is a repository for the district's broader historical record.
