Salih Pasha Mosque
Salih Pasha Mosque is a mosque located in the Cibali neighborhood.
Salih Pasha Mosque is located on Salih Pasha Street. The construction of the mosque was undertaken by the scholar Tokatlı Paşmakçı Hüsameddin Efendi during the reign of Fatih Sultan Mehmet. Also known as Ibn-i Meddas, Hüsameddin Efendi assumed the office of the Amasya mufti in 1442 and commissioned the Hüsamiye Madrasa in Amasya. Ibn-i Meddas came to the city to take part in the Conquest of Istanbul, and after the conquest he continued his life in the Cibali neighborhood. In 1647 Salih Pasha had a fountain built on one of the mosque's walls. Because of this, the mosque became known as Salih Pasha Mosque. The mosque is also known as "Paşmakzade Mosque" and "Ibn-i Meddas Mosque."
In 1830 the mosque, and in 1912 a philanthropist named Zeynep Hanım had the fountain built by Salih Pasha restored. The mosque was restored again with an additional second floor between 1977 and 1980.
