Sekerci Han
Qandolatchi caravanserai (in Turkish: Şekerci Han) or Fatih caravanserai — a historic palace located in the Fatih district of Istanbul, Turkey, which is presumed to have been built during the reign of Mehmed II Fotih.
Location
The caravanserai is situated at the corner where İslambol Street and Malta Çarşısı Street intersect in the Fatih district of Istanbul.
Historical and architectural features
Presumed to have been built together with the Fatih Mosque, this structure possesses both 15th‑century and 17th‑century architectural characteristics, so there is no precise information about its construction date. Previously, famous persons such as Said Nursi, Mehmed Akif Ersoy and Ahmet Hamdi Tanpınar resided in this inn. The inn has 100 rooms. The original version of the building is thought to have been constructed as a two‑storey structure in the 15th century, and later, in the 17th century, an additional storey was added and various supplementary construction works were carried out.
Because the property rights belong to different individuals, despite the measurement project being approved on 4 June 2014, renovation and restoration works are not being carried out at the caravanserai.
