About

The Sharafkhanli Mosque was built in 1915 in the Sharafkhanli quarter by Məşədi Molla Ibrahim of the Sharafkhanli lineage. The mosque consists of 4 rooms and has a dome. Because it was not possible to bury the five residents of the Sharafkhanli quarter who were killed in the 1920 Ganja uprising in the city cemetery at that time, they were buried in the mosque courtyard. After the Soviet occupation the mosque was turned into the incomplete secondary school No. 7 named after M.F. Akhundov. Later this school became the culinary school of the public catering department. Currently the building is used as a library and a marriage hall.
