Sıklık

Sıklık Nature Park Picnic Area or Sıklık Picnic Area is a picnic area and nature park located 5 kilometres from the centre of Çorum.

It is 30 km from Laçin and 37 km from the district of Mecitözü. It covers an area of 318 hectares. Inside there are two fauna exhibition areas (wild animal parks) established to introduce wild animals to visitors in their natural environment and a botanical area where seedlings of 165 different species have been planted. Among the living species in this area are rabbit, squirrel, fox, wild boar, wolf, badger, mole, red hawk, kite, crow, nightingale and red-legged partridge.

The botanical area where 5,500 seedlings of 165 different species have been planted is one of the most important features of the fauna exhibition area of Sıklık Nature Park, which was established in 2012 as Turkey's first example. Adjacent to the fauna exhibition area there is a 10‑metre‑high observation tower. The park has scenic viewing terraces, a visitor information centre, a wooden tea garden, a botanical garden, a country restaurant, a fountain, a kiosk, toilets, a rain shelter and sports facilities for visitors to use. The fauna exhibition area, established in 2012 on a 50‑dunam site, turned into an animal production centre and, as the number of animals increased, a new fauna area of 400 dunams was created. As of 2019, both fauna exhibition areas were reported to contain 14 red deer, 14 wild goats, 3 roe deer, 6 mountain gazelles and 3 rabbits.

Initially, in 1992, a 30‑hectare portion of the area where the park now stands was declared a picnic area; in 2009 the area was expanded to 64 hectares and was declared a nature park by the Ministry of Environment and Forestry and placed under protection. The area was expanded in 2014 to 318 hectares. In 2018, the annual number of visitors reached 180,000.
