The Palace of Stern (Hungarian Stern palota) is a listed historic palace at 10 Andrássy út in Budapest. The building, together with Andrássy út, is part of a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

History

On the site of the present palace three buildings previously stood. These were demolished in 1881 and, on their site, a three‑storey palace in the style of eclecticism was built by 1884 according to plans by Adolf Feszty. The client was the merchant Ignác Stern, who came from the Székely Land. From 1923 the palace housed the United States Consulate for several years. Until 1931 the building also housed the publisher Singer und Wolfner, which also published books by Ferenc Herczeg, Géza Gárdonyi and Sándor Bródy. In 1949 the palace was expropriated and nationalized. From 1952 it housed only offices.
