Szlovák Tájház
The Slovak Tájház was the permanent exhibition space of the Mihály Munkácsy Museum until 2001, after which it was taken over by the Slovak Municipality. (5600 Békéscsaba, Garai János utca 21.)
Description
It was established in 1972 from the museum objects of the Mihály Munkácsy Museum, as well as material collected in Békéscsaba and its region. The building is a renovated 19th‑century classicist folk house. It presents the lifestyle and domestic culture of a well‑off Slovak peasant farmer. In this house one can become acquainted with everything from the tools of farming to the furnishing of the inner room. The house’s wooden carved, painted‑with‑flowers, dated furniture is valuable.
