After 1917, the structure was arranged to accommodate health services; it notably housed the sanitary and epidemiological station of Almaty.

In 1986, a complete restoration of the building was carried out according to the plans of architect V.M. Pliss.

From 1992 to 1999, the building hosted the National Olympic Committee of Kazakhstan.

Architecture

The building is made of spruce logs from the Tian Shan.

It has an attic floor and a rectangular plan. It rests on a brick plinth and stone foundations. The walls are plastered and whitewashed.

The main entrance is highlighted by a porch with a deep projecting awning. The square part of the attic is topped by a four‑sided roof — supported by a wooden frame covered with sheet metal — and pierced by a dormer.

A cornice with a complex profile, composed of reclaimed wooden boards, runs around the entire perimeter of the building.

It is a wooden architectural monument and a testimony to the development of the merchant class in the city of Verny.

Protection of the monument

On 10 November 2010, a new list of historical and cultural monuments of local importance of the city of Almaty was approved, canceling all previous decisions on the subject.

This decree maintained the status of a monument of local importance for the gardener Tatrinov's house. The boundaries of the protected zones were approved in 2014.
