Among the outstanding values can also be considered the grey heron colony at Vencsellő and the black stork nesting in the hard forest, for which the two main conditions—black summer and tranquility—are present here. Black storks raise 3‑4 fledglings per nest each year. Here is also one of the largest sandbank colonies in Europe, which is occasionally visited by the honey buzzard. The old trees of the floodplain remnant forest provide habitat for shrews and voles, and in the old trees also bats and wild boars settle; the latter usually nest in the ground, and a single underground wasp nest can be half a metre in diameter, its location on the surface indicated by a barely noticeable hole a few centimeters wide, which, if noticed by a wasp, is opened with its claws, the larvae are extracted from the nest and taken as food for its offspring.

In the area there are still wet meadows bounded by forests, the rare bird of the mowers is the harrier, as well as the hoopoe, a more common breeder in the region.

Among the mammals found here are the now declining beaver population and, occasionally observed, the wildcat.

Among the values of the area the marsh marigold stands out, but several protected dragonfly species also occur here; such as the Lapp oak, the black‑legged dragonfly or the yellowish dragonfly.

Cultural‑historical values

At Tiszabercel, by the flood‑water lift canal, the steam‑powered lift can be seen, which today operates only as an attraction.
