Tuşçıbas – a lake in the Syr Darya river.

Geographical location

Located in the Aral district of Kyzylorda region, 2 km east of the village of Bögen.

Hydrography

Area 12.6 km2, length 11.5 km, width 2.9 km, deepest point 5.5 m. In the hot months of summer the lake dries up and turns into a salt flat. When the Syr Darya river flows strongly, the lake level rises and its area expands. It is expected that after the Aklaq dam (weir) is completed, the water of Tuşçıbas will become stable.

The muddy shore is flat. The south is swampy. The lake consists of three parts connected by canals. Reeds grow on the shore. The western shore is high, with curly sand, the southern part is a plain. Its water contains carp, catfish, black eye, roach, white bream, crucian carp, goby, etc.
