Vayxır Su Anbarı

Heydar Aliyev named (Vaykhir) water reservoir – its construction was completed in 2005 by Veli Akbarov. Its total capacity is 100 million m³, the length of the dam is 550 m, its height is 70.5 m. The water reservoir is intended for the irrigation of 6.9 thousand hectares of new lands and the improvement of water supply for 9.9 thousand hectares of existing irrigated lands in the Babek, Shahbuz and Julfa districts of the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic.

The project of the water reservoir was prepared as early as 1981. Construction work began in 1982–1983. However, the construction of the reservoir was halted for many years.
