Aktobe Region "Rukhaniyat" Museum
The Rukhaniyat Museum in Aktobe opened in December 2011 as the only museum in Kazakhstan dedicated specifically to the history and material culture of world and traditional religions. It was housed in the basement level of the Nur Gasyr mosque, a space allocated for the purpose on Abulkhair Khan Avenue, not far from the city center. The museum's collection brings together objects of religious, ceremonial, and historical significance, assembled to illustrate the development of different faiths and their place in regional and world history. Its stated mission combines scientific and educational work with public outreach, functioning as a research and exhibition space rather than a devotional site. As the oldest museum institution in the region, it has also undergone relocation to a new building in later years, reflecting continued investment in Aktobe's cultural infrastructure under regional heritage programs.
