Asiye Hatun Mosque is a mosque built in Safranbolu in 1939 by Asiye Hatun.

History

The mosque was commissioned by Asiye Hatun in 1939. It was built on land that belonged to the Gazi Süleyman Paşa Foundation until the 19th century. Previously, a village market was established in the area, and a market continues to be held there today.

Structure

The mosque was built with a rectangular plan and a broken roof. The minaret of the mosque, which consists of rubble stone walls, is made of wood. At the entrance door of the mosque there is an inscription in Arabic letters stating "Asiye Hatun commissioned this in 1939". Having an Arabic inscription after the Alphabet Reform reflects the public's view on the Arabic alphabet and religious sites. The mosque, constructed in the neighborhood mosque style, does not have a dome or a mihrab.
