Astropark is a public astronomy and planetarium facility in Ulaanbaatar, operated as a branch of the Institute of Astronomy and Geophysics under the Mongolian Academy of Sciences. Its planetarium hall uses a Konica Minolta MS-8 analog star projector to show the night sky and astronomical phenomena to visitors, alongside exhibition halls that trace the history of Mongolia's involvement in Soviet-era space research and exploration. Within its first decade of operation, the facility had introduced astronomy and space science to more than 121,000 visitors passing through its halls. To extend its reach beyond the capital, Astropark also built a portable planetarium dome and projector that staff have taken out to rural areas, giving an estimated 29,000 herders and villagers who would otherwise have no access to a planetarium a chance to learn about the stars and constellations.
