Güzelyurt Museum of Nature and Archaeology
This museum in Güzelyurt (Morphou) occupies a building that once served as the residence of the Bishop of Morphou, converted into a museum after restoration and opened to the public in 1979. Its ground floor is given over to a collection of taxidermied animals native to Cyprus, while the upper floors hold archaeological finds spanning the Neolithic and Bronze Age periods, including material from the ancient settlement of Tumba tou Skourou. The museum's courtyard functions as an open-air gallery for sculpture and architectural fragments from the Classical, Hellenistic and Roman eras. Among its most prized exhibits is a delicate gold tiara known as the 'Golden Leaves of Soli,' unearthed in 2005, alongside a 2nd-century AD marble statue of Artemis of Ephesus recovered from the ruins of Salamis in 1980.
