Morphou Train Station Museum
This former railway station in Güzelyurt (Morphou) was built more than a century ago under British colonial administration as part of the Cyprus Government Railway, a narrow-gauge line that linked towns across the island between 1905 and 1951. The Nicosia-to-Morphou section, around 39 kilometres long, was inaugurated in March 1907, and the Morphou station itself remained in service for 46 years until the entire network closed at the end of December 1951. Long left to deteriorate after the railway's closure, the station building became the focus of a restoration project begun in 2017, aimed at converting it into a heritage museum that would preserve the memory of Cyprus's short-lived railway era. The project has faced delays, but the station remains a notable surviving landmark of the island's early twentieth-century transport history.
