Hasanbey Mosque stands in the neighborhood that bears its name in Mudanya, a coastal district of Bursa province, and dates to the mid-seventeenth century. A nine-line inscription carved in stone above the mosque's northern entrance records its construction in the Islamic year 1063, corresponding to 1652-1653. It was commissioned by Hasan Pasha, who had served as mirliva, or brigadier-governor, of Egypt before retiring to Mudanya, where he spent his later years and contributed to the town's development, financing its first organized water-supply network, a sewer system, and a pier. The mosque itself is a rectangular, north-south oriented building topped with a wooden ceiling and built in the restrained style typical of Ottoman neighborhood mosques, with a single-balcony minaret rising at its northwest corner. Hasan Pasha's tomb lies in the mosque's courtyard, linking the building permanently to the patron who shaped much of Mudanya's early modern civic infrastructure.
