Kale Hammam
Kale Hamamı is a historic Turkish bath located in the district of Vize in the east of Kırklareli. The bath, which has sections for men and women, is currently in a ruined state and is not in use.
History
Because the structure is in ruins and does not contain an inscription that has survived to the present day, there is no clear information about the dates of its construction. The work, whose ownership is with the General Directorate of Foundations, is considered to form a complex together with the nearby Şerbetdar Hasan Bey Mosque and the mosque's fountain, which has not survived to the present day, and there are opinions that it can be traced back to the Byzantine period or that it bears characteristics of the Late Ottoman–Early Republic period.
The bath, which is said to have been used until recently, has a men's section that is intact while the women's section is being used as a hay storage.
It was registered by the Edirne Regional Board for the Protection of Cultural Heritage on 15.03.2013 by decision number 936.
Architecture
Because Kale Hamamı is in a ruined condition, its architectural features cannot be determined definitively. The bath, built using brick, rubble stone and finely cut stone, has warm and hot sections. The upper covering of the structure, which has not survived to the present day, was built as a vault or dome, and the transitions between spaces are provided by round brick arches.
