Katex Towers are historical and architectural monuments in the area of the village of Katex in Balaken District.

Architectural features

The towers were built with local stones, which were abundant in the sandy river, with the lower parts of the towers made of large-scale rough stones and the upper parts of small-scale rock-stones cut with scaffolding.

The walls of the towers start at 0.9 metres below and decrease to 0.5-0.6 metres as they rise above. The outer walls of the towers have a weak crest. The chronstones of the towers are formed by a series of large stones that hang on top of each other, protruding from the wall surface.

Based on the three-sided fronts preserved, almost all towers had double-sided roofs, and the remains of the towers were found to have interstitial roofs made of stone-free wood, with the roofs covered with plates or reeds, and each floor with a square-shaped opening that was used to connect the floors.
