Margar (Margaruzor) — a lake in Panjakent District of Sughd Province, Republic of Tajikistan. It is located in the northern foothills of the Hisor range, in the upper part of the Shing River basin, a right tributary of the Moghiyon River, in the Zarafshan basin. In the middle of the “Haftkul” area, the lakes of Margaruzor or Haft Nuzanini Shing differ with their own characteristics. The lakes of Margaruzor consist of seven turquoise lakes, linked in a chain through the wide Shing River valley. The reason the “Haftkul” area is called Margaruzor is that the lake, the largest among them, is named “Margaruzor”, its length is 4.5 km, its depth 45 meters and its total area 1.16 km². The lake’s altitude is 2139 m above sea level, the surface area is 1.16 km, its length 2650 m, average depth 423 m, the deepest point 46.7 m, and the water volume is 29 million m³. The main source of the lake is a stream that flows from the Hazorchashma lake 2 km upstream of Margaruzor. In addition, four more streams flow into the lake, their sources being mountain springs. Lake Margaruzor was formed as a result of the sinking of a mountain valley and the blockage of the Shing flow.

Witnesses say that in the past the water level was even higher and due to rising from the dam its level has decreased by 25 meters. In the spring and autumn, its surroundings turn blue due to the blue flowers, and because of this it is called Margaruzor. It is a favorite place of tourists. People have settled on its upper side in the village of Obi Hayot and on its banks in the village of Chaki. From this lake one can fish for pike.
